    I am not sure how any rock emitting an RF signal could be considered clandestine. Even with a short burst transmission it could be detected. The concept of using them in a mesh network is interesting and that could let each node be very low power. Our ham radio club used a mesh network of Wi-Fi routers using modified software during Field Day this year to connect the logging PC’s at each transmitter site to the logging server. It worked better than we expected for a first time test. And even better than a static network used in previous years.

    I DO have one of the Dog Poo transmitters down in my junk box. I couldn’t resist like you did since I was at Task Force Alpha in 1971-1972 where Laos/Vietnam sensor network was monitored and managed from.
